Currently biking around the world

Posts will happen significantly less often for a while as I am currently focused on biking around the world.

It could be a few months between posts or it could be a few years. I will almost certainly return to this blog one day. In the meantime, enjoy what's already been posted, or read about my travels here.

I don't remember how I discovered it, but there's this video out there of Matt Harding dancing ridiculously all over the world, all different styles, with people of all shapes, colors, and sizes.

Whenever I need to smile, I watch that video.

To "trip the light" is to dance ridiculously, which is exactly what Matt does. Along with the music, this video reminds us that on some level, we are all the same. We all need food and shelter, we all need to be loved, and we all live on the same rock hurling through space. To me, dancing is a way of sharing humanity, and dancing ridiculously is a way of sharing yourself and expressing yourself -- communicating with others in a way that transcends language. We don't all speak the same language, but we can all move our bodies. We can all be ridiculous.

To trip the life, then, is to share your life with others, to free yourself of worry, if only temporarily, by living a little ridiculously. Stop and remind yourself: there is good in the world. The purpose of this blog is to remind people to stop and smile. To trip their lives. And to spread awareness that it's not always that easy. There is a lot to be sad about and that's okay; we just have to remember that we're in this together. Humanity will win in the end. It wins every day -- sometimes we just forget.

The video is here.
